IN THIS ALLEY

IN THIS ALLEY

It was in this crooked alley
Amidst the sour garbage
Where a guy can pass a pipe in peace
Or steal a quick swig
While running from a cop raid,
That on a misty evening
I first felt your heart beat in mine
And knew, (at last),
In this one embrace
                                freedom.
