GentleYou spoke in flames
With the rolling thunder
Of your taut cowhide drums
Hunted and houndedYou sought refuge
Among the reeds and acacias
Among the elephant grass and baobab
Of your native land
Hunted and houndedYou sought the fruits of the desert
In the foreign countries
Of your own continent
Hunted and houndedYou found refuge in the icy landscapes
Of an alien society
Where the sun hardly sets
